Strapped into the chewing gum smeared, infamous blue and yellow tacky seats of Ryanair, I felt trapped inside their website. Their hideous colour scheme and constant barrage of adverts blurted at you on the loudspeaker or posted around the cabin were short of nauseating. They really don’t miss a single opportunity to flog or con you into something.

A look at their user unfriendly site astounds the reader with its similarity to anonymous parking lot sites, pasted with adverts all over it for other airlines including no frills rival easyJet. Ryanair staff themselves have claimed that the site will con you into paying far more money than necessary and is a substantial source of their income.

a typical parking lot site

As a brand, they’re shamelessly focused on low cost at all costs. They take you from A to B. That’s it. It really is no frills. Does this take the whole ‘I don’t care about the brand I just want the product/service to work’ too far?

Maybe the future of Ryanair is free flights where the only way of gaining revenue is through yet more advertising thrown in your face with added charges everywhere: charging for toilets, charging to stand up and charging to breathe air etc. Will it only stop when it begins to infringe upon the law?

Next time you fly it may be worth looking at BA’s comparison calculator first…
